Healthcare workers on Friday suspended their planned strike slated to start on July 14.
This follows the Ministry of Health and the Kenya Union of Clinical Officers (KUCO) meeting.
KUCO officials met with Mary Muthoni, Principal Secretary of the State Department for Public Health and Professional Standards.

They agreed to suspend the planned strike to pave the way for Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) negotiation.
“The Ministry of Health and the Kenya Union of Clinical Officers (KUCO) have reached an agreement to suspend the planned strike, allowing for the resumption of negotiations on the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA),” said the ministry.
“The decision comes after productive discussions between Mary Muthoni, Principal Secretary of the State Department for Public Health and Professional Standards, and KUCO officials.”
The negotiation will begin in the next 14 days.
The healthcare workers, on June 29, threatened to boycott their duties over what they termed as the government’s failure to implement the CBA.
They also called for the employment of 20,000 health workers.
