Police are probing the death of a woman and her one-year-old baby reported to have been mauled to death by hybrid dogs in Siranga village, Ugenya in Siaya County on Monday.

The 28-year-old woman and her one-year-old kid were walking alongside the road when the renegade dogs attacked and bit them many times.

According to James Ngao, the area police chief, a neighbour raises the hybrid dogs that were alleged to have gone astray on Sunday night.

"According to the owner, two dogs were not found last night, and he slept believing that they would return this morning," said Ngao.

The bodies of the woman and her son were taken to morgue pending autopsy.

Ngao revealed that members of the public had rushed to the cries of the woman and her son and beat the dogs to death.
