Jambojet launches operations to Lamu

Jambojet, a Kenyan airline that offers low-cost domestic flights throughout Kenya and an international flight, has commenced operations in Lamu, a coastal part of the country.

The carrier will fly from Nairobi to Lamu via Mombasa four times a week.

Fare from Nairobi to Lamu is ksh7100 ($71), and Mombasa to Lamu is ksh4600 ($46) one way.

Jambojet management expects more traffic to Lamu since it is one of the region's significant tourist destinations.

"Lamu County is undeniably one of Kenya’s top tourist destinations both for local and international travellers. With the ongoing LAPSSET project, we expect increased traffic into Lamu from tourists and potential investors. We want to ease their movement with the introduction of this route,” said CEO Karanja Ndegwa.

Last week, the airline began operations to Goma, the Eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo. It will be travelling twice weekly, on Monday and Friday, from the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to Goma International Airport.
