Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) troops operating in Somalia under the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) recently donated medical drugs to the newly constructed Rama health center at Beles Qooqani.
At the same time, they carried out a medical camp that benefited more than seventy residents.
ATMIS constructed the health centre, four ablution blocks, and an all-around fence.
The Officer Commanding Beles Qooqani Forward Operating Base (FOB), Major Atukon, noted that such infrastructure will be helpful to the community, which for a while suffered a lack of a medical facility.
Dr. Mohamed Ali Koriyow, the medic in charge of the health centre, appreciated the project and the donation noting that it stood to benefit the community.
"For a while now, this community has suffered due to the lack of a health center. People had to walk miles to find medical assistance. The health center and the drugs donated will greatly help the community," added Dr. Koriyow.©Standard Gazette, 2021.
