Kenya’s Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki announced on Wednesday a cash reward for anyone who volunteers information that will lead to the arrest of terrorists who have been staging attacks in Lamu, a coastal part of the country.
Appearing before the Senate Standing Committee on National Security, Defence and Foreign Relations, Kindiki said a list of the primary suspects will soon be published.
He called on the terrorists to surrender or face the consequences of an active manhunt.

Kindiki said the government is progressively reviewing its policies and counter-terrorism measures.
Key among the policies are the establishment of specialized units such as the Anti-Terrorism Unit, the National Counter-terrorism Centre, and the Financial Reporting Centre.
Others are the Transnational Organised Crime Unit, the Asset Recovery Agency and the Kenya Coast Guard Service.
The Kenya Coast Guard Service have enhanced the country’s preparedness and response to terror threats and attacks.
He stated that the move has also been bolstered by the drafting and implementing of various legislations.
“They include the Proceeds of Crime and Anti-Money Laundering Act, the Prevention of Terrorism Act, 2012, the Security Laws Amendment Act 2014, the Computer Misuse and Cybercrime Act 2018, and amendments to several acts,” said Prof. Kindiki.
