The Cabinet Secretary (CS) for the Ministry of Defence, Aden Duale, on Thursday, November 3, 2022, visited the Kenya Army Headquarters in Nairobi.
The visit was a familiarization and orientation tour to fully appreciate the Kenya Army Service, its organization, and the current operational footprint and understand its mandate in defending the territorial integrity of the Republic of Kenya.
The CS was received by Commander Kenya Army, Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) Peter Njiru, and taken through the various departments within the Army.
The CS was briefed on the various roles and responsibilities the service is currently undertaking in the country and outside the Kenyan borders as it executes its constitutional mandate, as well as the plans of ensuring the arrowhead is sharpened.
In his address, the CS acknowledged the essential role played by the Kenya Army in delivering its core mandate of securing Kenya from external land-based aggression.
"The Army is critical in defence of the nation. I applaud you for being an elite service that is ready and efficient; I want to assure you of our support to enable you to attain your mandate in accordance with the Constitution," said Duale.
The CS affirmed his commitment to enhancing Army modernization ambitions welfare of soldiers for mission readiness and urged them to continue with the same spirit and commitment to selfless service to the nation.
In his remarks, the Commander Kenya Army said the Army is strong and will continue to improve and enhance its capabilities to ensure that it is always ready to fulfil its obligations in the global dynamic and complex security situation.©Standard Gazette, 2021.
