The Kenyan government on December 14 honoured 37 police officers who lost their lives during their duties between November 2022 and November 2023.
The event was presided over by Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki. Also present was Inspector of General (IG) police Japhet Koome, among others.
In his remarks, CS Kindiki stated that an endowment fund will be operationalized in the Financial Year 2023/2024 to provide scholarships for families of Officers killed in the Brave Execution of Duty.

Similarly, IG Japhet Koome assured the families of the Fallen Heroes that they remain part of the National Police Service Family.
This year’s Commemorative event for Fallen Heroes was generously supported by National Police Service (NPS) partners, namely, National Police Sacco, Cooperative Bank, Equity Bank, Harambee Sacco and Magereza Sacco.
“We reiterate its commitment to serve and to protect,” said the National Police Service.
