Kenya on Wednesday hosted the 11th Ordinary Session of the Governing Board of the Africa CDC (Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention).
During the event that took place in Nairobi, Cabinet Secretary of the Ministry of Health Susan Nakhumicha highlighted Kenya’s commitment to the Africa CDC’s mission, which aims to strengthen the capacity and capability of Africa’s public health institutions in detecting and responding swiftly and effectively to disease threats and outbreaks.
“We are committed to leveraging this opportunity to enhance collaboration, coordination and communication,” said Dr. Nakhumicha.

“I also wish to express my appreciation for the privilege of serving as a member in the past, we have witnessed Africa CDC remarkable achievements, extraordinary assistance, combating infectious diseases and health security across the country.”
She said that the 11th Governing Board and the Advisory and Technical Council, both held in Kenya on Monday, July 10, show the country’s essential role in developing public health initiatives across the continent.
This aligns with the commitment of President William Ruto, who has accepted the Africa CDC Champion for Local Vaccine Manufacturing role in line with the African Union’s Partnerships for African Vaccine Manufacturing Framework.
