The Kenyan Government on Friday launched a plan to end the AIDS pandemic in Children by 2027.
Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha launched the plan in Homa Bay County, the western part of the country.
Recognizing the significance of global collaborations such as PEPFAR and the Global Fund, as well as joint efforts, Nakhumicha stated that the country has made significant progress in the last decade, with a 57% decline in new HIV infections and a 68% decrease in AIDS-related fatalities.

While 85% of children with HIV get medication, only 74% achieve viral suppression.
She stated that the performance difference emphasizes the need for immediate action.
During a recent visit to Tanzania, Nakhumicha vowed on behalf of the Kenyan government to resolve the gaps impeding progress toward the abolition of pediatric AIDS.
Kenya will undertake a thorough four-point action plan included in the Kenya Plan to End AIDS in Children during the next three years.
This strategy intends to eliminate AIDS in children by 2027, including eliminating HIV, Syphilis, and Hepatitis transmission from mother to child.
