Kenya Navy has hosted the Indian Navy Ship (INS) Trikand during the ship's 3 -day visit to Kenya to mark India's 75 years of Independence.
INS Trikand arrived in Kenya on Sunday, August 14, 2022, and docked at the Port of Mombasa.
The three-day event began with a flag hoisting ceremony at the Mbaraki Wharf presided over by the Assistant High Commissioner of India, Sandeep Sharmaon. The ceremony was attended by the Kenya Navy Fleet Commander Brigadier Sankale Kiswa.
Commander Kenya Navy Major General Jimson Mutai later hosted the Assistant High Commissioner of India, the Indian Defence Attache to Kenya Navy Captain Nitesh Garg, and the Commanding Officer INS Trikand Captain Sudhir Kumar Singh for a courtesy call at the Kenya Navy Headquarters, Mtongwe.
The courtesy call was geared towards bolstering maritime security cooperation and enhancing bilateral ties between the two states.
INS Trikand crew later visited the Full Mission Bridge Simulator (FMBS) and Firefighting Unit at Kenya Naval Training College (KNTC), where they were briefed on the roles and capabilities of the FMBS.
On August 16, 2022, a medical team from the two countries conducted a free medical camp at the Mtongwe Outreach Healthcare Centre, where more than 200 Mtongwe residents were attended to, the majority being women and children. The medical crew offered services ranging from eye and dental check-ups, skin illness treatment, malaria treatment, and maternal care.
After completing her 3-day visit to the Kenya Navy, INS Trikand left the Port of Mombasa on Wednesday, August 17, 2022.
