Kenya Power and Lightening Company Ltd (KPLC) has announced that it is expediting the installation of meters for new connections across the country.
During a ceremony to kick off Customer Service Week, the firm’s Managing Director & CEO, Dr. Joseph Siror, stated that the program will see outstanding connections completed within 90 days.
“In the recent past, we have experienced challenges with the procurement of critical materials, which has negatively impacted our drive to onboard new customers.
I am happy to note that these challenges have been addressed, and we have started receiving meters, which we are deploying to clear pending connections,” said Dr. Siror.
The company will connect nearly 320,000 customers with recently purchased meters during this time.
The total number of pending new connections is now 236,924.
The company has installed 10,759 meters for new connections through the RRI, which began this week.
According to the company, despite its push to boost the national power access tariff, many customers have been forced to wait for extended periods of time due to ongoing legal fights that have hampered the purchase of meters and other equipment.
