Kenya has received 15 electric buses from BYD aboard MV Morning Christina.

The buses were received on Tuesday at the Port of Mombasa by Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) officials.

"This is the largest consignment of electric buses to the region and will be running on green power; a big win for Kenya which is committed to curb emission and alleviate climate change through the adoption of renewable energy," said KPA.

The buses arrived following a successful trial in the country. The two test buses are already in use in Nairobi. BasiGo, a Kenyan electric bus company, conducted the successful trial.

"The buses were shipped by BYD Automotive; the largest manufacturer of electric vehicles in the world," added KPA.
