Kenya To Address Past And Emerging Forest Land related Issues

The Chief Conservator of Forests Julius Kamau held a consultative meeting with officials from the National Land Commission (NLC) led by Commissioners Reginald Okumu and Prof. James Tuitoek at KFS Headquarters in Karura, outskirts of Nairobi.

They discussed and agreed to deepen the existing collaboration between the two government institutions in undertaking their respective mandates.

NLC is mandated to oversight the management of public land where KFS also falls under as the custodian of all public forest resources in the country.

The two institutions agreed on forming a joint technical committee to address past and emerging forest land related issues.

Also present during the meeting was; Bernard Opaa (NLC Deputy Director, Natural Resources), Evans Kegode (KFS Head of Survey and Mapping), Esther Keige (KFS Manager Legal Services), Laura Yego (KFS Chief Legal Officer), and Muthomi Ngarathi (NLC PLAO).
