“Kenya will be visa-free beginning in January 2024. It will no longer be required for anyone from any part of the world to bear the burden of applying for a visa in order to visit Kenya,” said Ruto.

He further said they had devised a new digital platform to implement the new policy.

The digital platform would guarantee that all visitors to Kenya are recognized before visiting the East African nation.

He stated that the visitor would be given an electronic travel authorization upon identification.

“Kenya has a simple message for the rest of the world: Welcome Home!

As a result, the government has eliminated the need for visas for all of our guests,” added Ruto.

Ruto spoke on Tuesday during the Jamhuri Day Celebration at Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi.

Jamhuri is the Swahili word for republic. The event commemorates Kenya’s independence on December 12, 1963, six months after receiving internal self-rule from the United Kingdom on June 1, 1963.
