Agriculture and Livestock Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi on Monday inaugurated the Kenya Veterinary Board.
Kenya Veterinary Board (KVB) is a regulatory body established under an Act of Parliament, the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Paraprofessionals Act, 2011.
The mandate of the Board is to regulate: Veterinary training, Veterinary practices, Regulate the professional conduct of registered veterinary practitioners and advice the Government on veterinary professional issues.
During the peaceful exercise, Dr. Jafred Kitaa was declared the Chairman after garnering nine out of 15 votes, while the elected Deputy Chair, Dr. Joan Magero, garnered eight out of 15 votes.
While addressing the Board, the CS told the winners and the newly appointed Board members to work as a team for the sake of the farmers’ High Livestock productivity for an improved economy.
KVB is to focus on pastoralists by offering them accurate and timely extension services.
