Kenyan renowned blogger Robbert Alai has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a gospel artist known as Alex Apoko alias Ringtone.

Alai is being held at Nairobi’s Kilimani Police Station pending investigations.

The genesis of the assault is unknown, but in a video clip shared on social media, the two are seen engaging in a heated brawl in the middle of a Nairobi road.

The musician could be seen standing on top of the car he was driving and gesturing towards Alai and saying, "why has he beaten me?”. Blood could be seen dripping over his face.

Eyewitnesses told the Standard Gazette that the blogger accosted the musician at a roundabout before overtaking and driving right into him and crashed his vehicle.

After that, Alai is alleged to have gotten out of his vehicle with a wooden club; he allegedly hit a ringtone on the face.

This is not the first time the blogger has been arrested. In 2019 he was nabbed for posting gory photos of eight police officers who died after their vehicle ran over an improvised explosive device (IED) in Khorof Harar, Wajir County, Northeastern Kenya. He was later arraigned in court and released on bond.
