Kenyan Kevin Kangethe was denied bail/bond by a court in the United States of America (USA) after pleading not guilty to murder.
Kangethe was extradited to the USA from Nairobi on September 1, 2024, following a successful court process by Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Renson M. Ingonga.
He was arraigned before the Suffolk Superior Court in Pemberton Square, Boston, on September 3, 2024, and denied murdering Margaret Mbitu.
He is a suspect in a First Degree Murder in violation of the laws of the United States, where he is alleged to have murdered Margaret Mbitu in Massachusetts on October 31, 2023, by inflicting multiple stabs on her face and neck before leaving her body in a locked automobile in a parking garage at Boston Logan Intn’l Airport.
Kangethe and the late Margaret Mbitu, a home healthcare aid in the town of Halifax, Massachusetts, are believed to have been in a relationship before the suspect turned against her allegedly while on a trip to Lowell.
The Suffolk Superior Court ruled he would be held without bail on the grounds of the severity of the case.
Further, the court heard that the suspect and deceased had been marred by reports of domestic violence.
The matter was set for a pre-trial date before the Homicide section on November 5, 2024.
