Police in Kenya are holding a man alleged to have been involved in nine killings of mothers and children in Nyandarua County, central Kenya.
Simon Ngige is purported to have committed heinous acts within six months in 2020.
The suspect, who has been on the run since last year, was arrested in Naivasha, North West of Nairobi.
Police said Ngige confessed to having killed 30-year-old Ms. Eunice Muthoni Ndung’u and her 5-year old daughter Linet Njeri on April 23 last year by hacking them with a machete. He disclosed to police that he dug a tunnel through the wall of their mud house to have access to their home.
The woman and her daughter died due to head injuries while undergoing treatment in the local hospital.
He also admitted to having similarly killed 23-year-old Alice Wanjiru on March 25, 2020, in the same area.
He is also linked to the murder of seven other people, primarily women and children in the area, within the same period.
According to the police, Ngige will be arraigned in court and charged with murder when investigations are complete.©Standard Gazette, 2021.
