Kenyan Man Who Assaulted A Woman During A Political Rally Arrested

A man has been arrested in Kisii County, in southwestern Kenya, after allegedly slapping a woman during a political rally.

In a video that has been widely shared on various social media sites, the man can be seen physically beating a woman who appears to hold a different political opinion than him.

The suspect, Joash Atemba Nyang'ate alias Sokoro, was caught on camera assaulting a lady who shouted Azimio at a UDA rally in Kisii on Thursday.

The rally was organized by deputy president William Ruto. He was accompanied by other Kenya Kwanza leaders including Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi, Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula.

While speaking at the gathering, the Kenya Kwanza leader had instructed the audience to react with the phrase 'Kazi ni Kazi when requested.

However, instead of responding with the words 'Kazi ni Kazi,' the lady responded with the words 'Azimio la Umoja'.

It was at this time that Sokoro smacked the woman in the face, causing her to turn around.

According to a statement published by the National Police Service police chief Hillary on Friday, which was obtained by the Standard Gazette, the suspect is being detained and investigations are proceeding.

“Police have acted on the incident and made an arrest of one male person namely Joash Atemba Nyagate a.k.a Sokoro. He is in police custody assisting with the investigation and will face court action once the investigation is completed,” read part of the statement.
