A Kenyan Legislator, Nimrod Mbai, was on Wednesday arrested after he was caught on video assaulting a Kenya Power employee.
Mbai surrendered himself to Kitengela Police Station on Wednesday morning.
He will be arraigned in court later today, where he will be charged with assault.
A viral video that has gone popular on social media shows the MP ranting at Kenya Power officers before repeatedly slapping one of them during the Monday incident.
During the incident, the MP was also filmed reaching for and attempting to pull his gun.
The Kenya power workers’ visit is said to have been sparked by an uproar from the area, where it was stated that the electricity had become dim and defective.
It was purportedly discovered that the MP’s residence had a big illicit connection.
The MP instead engaged in a verbal confrontation with Kenya Power authorities before physically attacking the company engineer, resulting in a melee.
