A 51-year-old police officer has been found today with a case to answer in the infamous murder of a 16-year-old secondary school student, Tony Katana, in Mombasa County eight years ago.
Lady Justice Anne Ong’injo ruled that the prosecution established its case against Sergeant John Otieno beyond any reasonable doubt.
In her ruling, Ong’injo stated that 19 prosecution witnesses provided reliable and collaborative evidence to help find Otieno with a case to answer for the murder of the schoolboy.
The judge ruled that the witnesses’ testimonies were collaborated by exhibits to prove the offence of murder against the accused.
The accused is alleged to have murdered the then Harvard secondary school form two student on August 13, 2016, at Uwanja wa Mbuzi area within Kongowea Location within Mombasa County.
The defence hearing will commence on February 5, 2024.
