Police in Kenya have arrested a secondary school student who hit a school principal with a wooden plank with a projected nail over school fear arrears.
The form three student of Ainamoi Secondary School in Kenya’s South Rift was nabbed on Thursday, June 17, after he surrendered to poiice.
“It is true that the student, in the company of a relative, surrendered to the police and will be processed to appear in court in relation to the incident,” confirmed the local police boss Silas Gichunge.
His action left teachers and students in shock, given that he had no record of indiscipline cases.
They further revealed that he was loved by teachers and students and was active in co-curricular and curriculum activities.
The victim, Mr. Geoffrey Rono, is still under treatment after undergoing minor treatment.
Teachers Service Commission (TSC)-teachers’ employer condemned the incident and raised the alarm over the escalated incidences of violence towards teachers.
“We wish to call upon all stakeholders to do all that is within their means to ensure that schools are safe for conducive learning and teaching. We must all work to stop violence in schools. TSC is determined to ensure that teachers are able to deliver on their duties,” read part of the statement issued by the TSC
