Kenya’s Kabarak University was hit hard after someone hacked its Facebook account and posted information contrary to its principles.
The institution has been forced to contact the Facebook parent firm Meta to recover its account with more than 50000 subscribers.
“We have reached out to Facebook in an effort to recover the university’s account. We’ve forwarded this case to the concerned authorities and the action will be taken,” said the University Vice-Chancellor Henry Kiplagat.
At the same time, Kiplagat dismissed rumours that the institution has opened a new account.
“I want to make it clear that Kabarak University has not created any new account. Any account created in the name of Kabarak University is a pseudo account by cybercriminals aimed at tainting the name of the institution,” he added.
The hacker altered the profile photo two days ago and added inexplicable phrases and pictures.
