Kenyan veteran journalist Catherine Kasavuli is admitted at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) in Nairobi.

Reports indicate that the legendary journalist and news anchor has been diagnosed with cervix cancer. KNH is appealing to well-wishers to donate blood for her.

"KNH usually gives the patient what is required from their blood bank as long as donors have presented themselves. They don't restrict donations to blood type factor; hence anyone can donate," said KBC acting Managing Director Samuel Maina.

Kasavuli, dubbed "the TV queen," has been a regular in Kenyan media since the 1980s. Before retiring in 2015, she was one of the first anchors to host a live television broadcast at a privately owned TV station in the 1990s.

Kasavuli returned to KBC in 2020, where she currently hosts the Legend Edition show every weekend.
