Nathan Wangui Ndirangu, a police officer in Kirinyaga County, central Kenya, is behind bars after being arrested for allegedly taking bribes.

The officer was nabbed by the public members for demanding bribes from business people in the area.

Traders claim the officer has been demanding Ksh2000 from them for purportedly working past curfew hours.

“He was arrested by members of the public at Kagumo market while demanding money by a menace from shop owners claiming they had opened their businesses beyond curfew hours,” a police report read in part.

Police officers stated that the suspect was inebriated and had no money on him when he was apprehended, despite the fact that he had allegedly stolen money from the traders.
