Kenya’s Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai in Algeria

The Inspector General (IG) of the National Police Service, Mr Hilary Mutyambai, who is also AFRIPOL's President of the General Assembly, is on a three-day working tour to AFRIPOL headquarters in Algiers, Algeria.

Mutyambai arrived in the North African country on Sunday, November 21, 2021. He was at Houari Boumediene Airport by the Executive Director of AFRIPOL, Dr Tarek Ahmed Sharif.

The IG will visit AFRIPOL headquarters today, where he will participate in various engagements.

Key amongst them is the presentation on the AFSECOM system, presentation on the NEF-AFRIPOL project (NETWORK OF EXCELLENCE IN FORENSICS OF AFRIPOL), presentation on the AFRIPOL Operational Framework, and finally a virtual meeting to exchange views with members of AFRIPOL General Assembly Bureau.

AFRIPOL is the African Union Mechanism for Police Cooperation. Its key objective is to strive for continental peace and security, especially through its motto of "Silencing the Guns."

Other interventions areas of interest are tackling transnational organized crime, joint training and operations, and counterterrorism initiatives.
