Kenya Films and Classification Board (KFCB) CEO Ezekiel Mutua has rubbished reports circulating on social media saying he has been sacked.
Dr Mutua urged Kenyans to ignore the rumours that have been doing the rounds since last week.
“My attention has been drawn to reports on social media to the effect that I have been fired as CEO of KFCB. PLEASE IGNORE such malicious rumours. I am not aware of such developments and there can be no grain of truth in them as there’s no vacancy in the office of the CEO KFCB,” he said.
On Wednesday, Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jnr tweeted that the KFCB boss was shown the door by Information Communication and Technology (ICT) Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru. Senator Mutula described his removal as illegal.
“Ezekiel Mutua unlawfully removed by CS Mucheru as CEO after being lawfully appointed by the board. Laws are mere suggestions for this administration,” said the Senator.
In a quick rejoinder, Dr Mutua, whose term expires in October 2021, dismissed the reports claiming he is still in charge of the KFCB.
He was first elected in October 2015 as the parastatal boss for a three-year team.
When his term expired in 2018, his contract was renowned.
