President William Ruto on Tuesday morning locked out two Cabinet Secretaries from a meeting at State House, Nairobi.
Interior CS Kithure Kindiki and his Trade Counterpart Moses Kuria were locked out of State House for being late.
The two leaders were late to signing performance contracts headed by Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua.
Angry Ruto directed the duo to explain to him in writing why they were late.
“For those who came late and they are members of the Executive, I will be expecting a written explanation and it should not include matters of traffic on why they did not take these performance contracts seriously because if you don’t take them seriously it means that we don’t take the contract with the people of Kenya on performance seriously and that can be a very serious indictment on anybody,” said President Ruto.
The Kenyan President was also surprised that some of his Cabinet Secretaries understood so little about their dockets, which was humiliating to the countries.
“People here do not want to read. If I know more than you about what is in your Ministry, then you should not be part of this. Why are you a Cabinet Secretary if you don’t understand your job?” asked Ruto.
