Kwale County Government’s Head of Treasury, Vincent Chirima Mbito, has been charged with fresh corruption charges related to a Ksh3 million ($20766) tender from the county government.
The accused was charged before Chief Magistrate Alex Ithuku with two counts of unlawful acquisition of public property and conflict of interest.
He denied the two charges and was released on a Ksh1 million ($6922) bond and one surety with an alternative cash bail of Ksh300,000 ($2077).
At the same time, the court summoned Peter Midas Wachenge Mwandoe, an accountant, and Suleiman Mazera Mtende, a hospital administrator, to face similar corruption-related charges.
The matter will be mentioned on March 12, 2024.
