Multi-Agency Security Team in Laikipia, Kenya’s Rift Valley held a consultative meeting with officials from the National Drought Management Authority (NDMA) on Tuesday 15th March 2022 at Ol-Moran Catholic Hall, in Kirima Sub-County.
The meeting centred on mutual cooperation and provision of support to NDMA, to accomplish its mandate and particularly the ongoing Laikipia- Baringo Intercounty Integrated Drought
Preparedness, and Resilience Project whose objective is to increase household income, and the reduction of resource-based conflicts along the volatile Baringo- Laikipia border.
The Multi-Agency Security Team appreciated NDMA for embarking on programs that will augment the multipronged approach adopted by the security team that included, intensification of patrols, construction of a modern Sub-County Police Headquarters at Ol-moran Township, desilting and construction of dams, new access roads, additional security camps, digging of a trench, construction of classrooms, provision of medical assistance, the appointment of additional police reservists, and a mentorship program that seeks to inspire peaceful coexistence between communities.
Speaking during the session, the NDMA officials thanked the Multi-Agency team for progressively restoring sustainable peace and coexistence amongst communities as evidenced by a surge in social-economic activities in the area, that underscore the gains made by the Multi-Agency Security Team.
