Malawi’s president Lazarus Chakwera in Kenya for a three-day visit

The President of the Republic of Malawi Lazarus Chakwera and the First Lady Monica Chakwera are currently in Kenya for a three-day visit.

On Tuesday, the duo arrived in Nairobi and was received at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport by Kenya’s ICT and Youth Affairs Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru and his Defence counterpart Eugene Wamalwa.

They will be the Chief guests at this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations at Wang’uru Stadium in Kirinyaga, central Kenya.

Mashujaa Day, also known as Heroes’ Day (“mashujaa” is Swahili for “heroes”), is a Kenyan national holiday marked on October 20 to jointly honour all people who helped to Kenya’s independence struggle or positively contributed in post-independence Kenya.

On Thursday, he will be received by President Uhuru Kenyatta and First Lady Margaret Kenyatta at State House Nairobi, where the two leaders will hold talks.
