Simon Githu Mbugua, accused of impersonation of a high court advocate

A 61-year-old man has been charged with impersonation of High Court advocate Winny A. Ochwal.

Simon Githu Mbugua is accused of writing a demand letter for an unsuspecting public member who had been defrauded Ksh20,000 ($142) while pretending to be Winny A. Ochwal Advocates – Commissioner for Oaths.

He was arrested on Monday, January 19, 2024, in his office in Nairobi by Serious Crime Unit detectives before being arraigned before Milimani Law Court.

During his arrest, a stamp reading WINNY A. OCHWAL ADVOCATES was recovered before he was arrested and booked at Muthaiga Police Station.

The suspect was released on a Ksh100000 ($708) cash bail.

The case will be mentioned on March 5, 2024.
