A Kenyan court has sentenced a 45-year-old man to life imprisonment after finding him guilty of defiling an 8-year-old girl.
The court heard that the suspect, Stephen Kemboi, committed the act on January 25, 2022, at a village in Baringo South, Kenya’s Rift Valley.
Kemboi enticed the minor with mangoes before leading her to a maize plantation where he performed the heinous act.

Resident Magistrate Edwin Mulochi said the prosecution provided enough evidence that proves that Kemboi committed the act.
Six witnesses, including the minor and her parents, testified against the suspect.
The minor told the court that Kemboi had defiled her twice before and threatened to kill her if she told anyone.
The doctor who provided a medical report to the court also acknowledged that the girl was defiled and had acquired a fistula due to the act.
The suspect was charged with two counts of defilement in violation of sections 8(1) and 8(2) of the Sexual Offences Act No. 3 of 2006, as well as committing an indecent act with a girl in violation of section 11 of the Sexual Offences Act of 2006.
He has 14 days to appeal the ruling.
