A man is fighting for his life in the hospital after his father attacked him for uprooting his avocado trees.
In the incident that occurred last Saturday in Kenol, Murang’a county Central Kenya, George Mwangi Ng’ang’a, 35, had walked into his father’s farm and cut down the trees which bear the rear to find tropical delicacy, much to the chagrin of the old man.
Reports indicate that when his 80-year-old father confronted him over his decision to cut down the trees without his consent, the boy became defiant.
“At this point, the furious elderly reached for a machete and went after the son. Luckily, the machete missed the son’s jugular and landed on the left side of his chest inflicting a life threatening injury,” said the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
Efforts by the man’s 68-year-old wife, Cecilia Njeri, to separate the two were fruitless, as her son bit the finger with which his mother fed him and almost paid for it with his life.
Close relatives who responded to the incident rushed the young man to Thika level five hospital, where he is currently recuperating.
