A Kenyan court on July 17, 2023. Sentenced a man to 35 years in prison for sodomising a student.
While delivering the verdict at Garissa Law Courts, Northeastern part of the country, Resident Magistrate Shadrack Otuke said there is enough evidence linking Hussein Hassan Ali, the Director of Mwangaza Private Primary and Secondary Schools in Garissa, to the act.
According to the court, Ali committed the heinous act in 2021 when the victim was in form 2.

The court noted that the accused was armed with a sword when committing the offence. So the victim was frightened and felt obligated owing to fear that the accused might damage or kill him.
The magistrate stated that the accused owed it to the youngsters he educates to safeguard them rather than ‘feasting’ on them.
Ali has 14 days to appeal the ruling.
