A 37-year-old Kenyan man has been handed life imprisonment over the defilement of his 12-year-old niece.
Kabarnet Chief Magistrate Judith Wanjala sentenced Zakayo Koech, to life imprisonment for incest, after defiling the minor.
The court heard that the suspect broke into the house where the minor was sleeping and defiled her.
The accused is the brother of the victim’s mother and was well aware that the minor was alone in the house since her mother had travelled for a burial.
They live in the same compound.
Magistrate Wanjala said the prosecutor proved that Koech did the heinous act.
