A man who had an ongoing affair with his neighbour's wife lost his life on Thursday morning after he knocked on the woman's door and came face to face with her husband.
Julius Kipkurui, 42, crept into the man's compound a few minutes past 3 am and started calling out the man's wife's name, asking her to open the door. Unbeknownst to him, the woman's husband, believed to be working miles away from home, had arrived incognito earlier in the day.
The man of the house, who was in deep slumber, thought it was a bad dream when the husky voice came through a space between the wooden window asking his wife to open the door.
This prompted the man of the house to fly from the bed with furry towards the door, and immediately after opening it went for the 42-year-old with rage.
A commotion followed as the woman's husband attacked Kipkurui, who dared to harvest where he hadn't sown. It took the intervention of the village elders to calm down the situation and return things to normalcy.
Meanwhile, the woman fled the homestead to neighbouring farms.
The badly injured intruder was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
At the scene, the man of the house was arrested and is currently being held in police custody as appropriate charges are being prepared.©Standard Gazette, 2021.
