A 38-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly defiling and killing his 8-year-old daughter in Kiminini, Western Kenya.
Emmanuel Juma was reported to have lured the minor to accompany him to Kiminini River, where he sexually abused her and pushed her into the river.
According to reports, the minor’s mother was unaware that her spouse had left the house with her daughter. When she noticed her husband and child were missing, she asked her neighbours to assist her in locating the girl.
They spotted the man attempting to choke the girl before pushing her into the river as they drew near the river.
The suspect attempted to escape from the scene but was overpowered by neighbours, who arrested him and handed him over to the police.
Kiminini police chief James Onditi stated, “He was trying to flee the scene but members of the public gave a chase and managed to catch him and transported him to Matangale police station where he is being kept.”
The deceased’s body was retrieved from the river and taken to the morgue while the man is behind bars pending an arraignment.
