A middle-aged man is in police custody after hacking his father to death in Nyakach, Kisumu County, southwestern Kenya.

The man is claimed to have returned home from a nearby market centre inebriated and requested food, a demand his father objected to.

Angry with his father’s decision, the suspect pursued the deceased as he went to tether his animals, striking him in the back with a crude weapon.

The suspect then allegedly hacked his father in the neck three times, killing him on the spot before walking away.

However, the police managed to arrest him as he tried to flee.

The suspect will be arraigned and charged with murder. Meanwhile, the deceased body was taken to the mortuary.
