A 45-year-old man committed suicide in Uriri, Migori County, Southwestern Kenya after his wife reportedly refused to cook chicken.
The deceased, John Rugala, allegedly asked his wife to cook the bird, an idea that the latter opposed because the chicken belonged to their daughter.
Angered by the response, the deceased sent his away before locking himself inside their house and setting it on fire.
Members of the public hurried to the scene in an attempt to extinguish the fire, but their efforts were in vain.
He succumbed to the injuries caused by the fire.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending investigations.
