A man stabbed his one and half-year-old daughter to death in Kagio, central Kenya, before trying to take away his life following a domestic squabble.
Police said the man committed the heinous act after his wife demanded ksh2000 ($200) for paying the house rent. He stabbed the minor several times using a kitchen knife before slitting his throat.
The Monday night incident has left residents reeling in shock.
“The suspect tried to commit suicide by cutting his own throat after killing the child,” said the police.
He was rescued and rushed to the hospital for treatment. Sources that spoke to the Standard Gazette revealed that the suspect is in critical condition.
Police said he will be charged with murder and attempted suicide.
Meanwhile, couples have been urged to seek amicable ways of solving disputes.
