A man who stabbed his lover at a supermarket in Machakos County, Southeastern Kenya, was arraigned in court on Monday.
Paul Mwangi appeared before Principal Magistrate Charles Ondieki.
He is accused of stabbing his lover Eunice Syokau on July 22, 2023.
The magistrate ordered the suspect to undergo a mental evaluation before the matter was mentioned on September 4.
In a video captured by CCTV, the suspect was seen taking the lady to an isolated place in the supermarket before pulling out his knife and driving it into her chest.
The lady died while being rushed to hospital, while the suspect disappeared from the scene before the officers bumped onto him.
The man, supposedly in a relationship with the lady, enticed her with the promise of going shopping when his true intention was to murder her.
Some sources intimated that the two former lovers separated for unknown reasons.
