The Multi-Agency security team in Marsabit, Eastern Kenya, over the weekend, held a successful security meeting with the Marsabit Women Peace Forum at Marsabit Township.
The meeting aimed to identify homegrown solutions to the communal conflicts in Marsabit county.
After lengthy deliberations, the County Commissioner for Marsabit, Mr. Paul Rotich, read out eleven resolutions adopted by participants as the best way forward in terms of fostering peace and cohesiveness.
The key resolutions include; fairness during the disarmament exercise, encouraging all communities to surrender firearms and eradication of drug trafficking and abuse and human trafficking.
The meeting further resolved to roll out more peace forums, provide psychosocial support to families affected by the conflict and establish more security posts before resettlement of IDPs, among others.
