The Media Council of Kenya (MCK) has urged media houses to create a powerful brand based on solid value systems while maintaining professional standards.
MCK Kisumu Regional Coordinator Evans Teddy made the call during a mentorship session held in Kenya’s lake city of Kisumu.
While expressing emerging issues in media, Teddy implored media houses to establish mechanisms that will enable them to sustain themselves while navigating the media industry in the country.
“It is important to create a powerful brand that is rooted in high professional standards and a robust value system,” said Teddy.
He further told media house officials to develop implementable operational and journalistic structures.
“Undertaking substantiative research on your primary audience and relevance of your programs is inevitable in realising your value proposition”, he said.
He also stressed the need for close collaboration among journalists working in the media house to enhance their skills and establish work plans to ensure long-term sustainability.
At the same time, Teddy has lauded Jabali Radio and TV for their dedication and unwavering effort to make their dream a reality.
He called upon them to embrace teamwork to attain the organisation’s goals.
“Teamwork plays a vital role in the realisation of the vision and mission upon which the media house was founded,” he reiterated.
