Ministry Of Defence Excels At 2022 Nairobi International Trade Fair

The Ministry of Defence (MOD) has scooped 12 awards out of 16 categories it has competed for at the 2022 Nairobi International Trade Fair (NITF) at Jamhuri Showground in Nairobi.

Deputy President Hon Rigathi Gachagua, who officially opened the one-week trade fair on September 28, 2022, handed over the trophy for the best government Ministry stand to Vice Chief of the Defence Forces Lieutenant General Francis Ogolla.

MOD also emerged number one in five other categories. These are The stand that best interprets the current show theme, The most striking display, the Best local manufacturers stand, the Best stand that promotes national cohesion and integration development, and the best display and services in health stand.

MOD also emerged number two in five other categories and number three in one other category.

The Ministry presented 15 exhibitors, including Strategic Communications, the Kenya Army, the Kenya Air Force, the Kenya Navy, the National Defence University-Kenya, Compensation and Welfare, the Directorate of Medical Services, the Disaster Response Battalion, and the Kenya Shipyards Limited.

Others include the Kenya Space Agency, the Communications Information Systems Maintenance and Innovation Centre, Defence Forces Canteen Organisation, the Kenya Meat Commission, and the Kenya Ordnance Factories Corporation. KDF Maroon Commandos Band and the Yellow Wagoners continue entertaining showgoers who visit the MOD Pavilion.

KDF Band and KDF troops are also participating at the Arena Events, where they have been entertaining guests as part of the uniformed forces mass band and military tattoos.

“Members of the public are invited to visit the KDF stand at the 2022 NITF, which started on September 26, 2022, and will end on Sunday, October 2, 2022, under the banner: Promoting Innovation and Technology in Agriculture and Trade,” said Kenya Defence Forces.
