Moi University has released new strict dress code guidelines for its students.
In an internal memo dated Tuesday, February 6, Dean of Students Dr Alice Mutai said the institution has banned 14 outfits, including mini skirts, skin-tight trousers, ragged or ripped jeans, and turbo-cut blouses or t-shirts.
Low-cut tops and dresses, micro-shorts, transparent clothing that reveals bra straps, sleeveless t-shirts, and t-shirts with offensive writing are also prohibited.
Others included in the list are Sagging trousers, clothing that reveals the chest, slippers, crocs and all plastic shoes.
“I wish to bring to your attention Article 3.1.1 a, c, d and e of the Rules and Regulations Governing the Conduct & Discipline of Students,” said Dr. Mutai.
The university imposed the ban following concerns raised over indecent dressing styles among the students.
The Dean warned the students against defying the new rules, saying breaching them would attract severe punishment.
Moi University staff were also ordered not to serve students who dress indecently.
