Kilgoris Member of Parliament Julius Sunkuli has urgently called upon the Cabinet Secretary for Interior, Kithuri Kindiki, to address the escalating clashes in Transmara, Kenya’s Rift Valley.
Speaking during a session in the National Assembly, Sunkuli stated that the clashes have plunged the residents of Nkararo and Enoosaen locations into a state of fear and disorder.
He added that skirmishes and fights have erupted over the past few days, leading to a significant disruption of peace in the area.

“The incidents have had dire consequences, with young lives tragically lost and hopes shattered,” said MP Sunkuli.
“The situation has further worsened as cattle thefts occurred in broad daylight, and valuable sugar cane crops, now the primary agricultural focus in the region, have been deliberately burnt, resulting in substantial financial losses for the affected communities. Moreover, brazen arsonists have set fire to houses, exacerbating the already tense atmosphere,” he added.
The lawmaker further claimed that clashes have primarily involved the use of traditional weapons such as bows and arrows.
He further expressed fear that firearms might be introduced, significantly escalating the conflict and potentially leading to unprecedented fatalities.
