The multi-agency search and rescue operation in Kihungoro, Ruiru, central Kenya, came to a close on Thursday after two bodies trapped in the rubble were recovered.

The search and rescue efforts, which took 6 hours, followed the collapse of a two-storey building on May 18, 2022.

The multi-agency team was comprised of National Police Service, Kenya Red Cross, Kiambu Fire Department and St John’s Ambulance.

The disaster Response Unit works with other disaster management agencies during such incidences to protect and save lives as mandated under the Kenya Defence Forces’ secondary role.
