Multi-agency team recover an additional firearm in Kerio Valley

On Tuesday, the Multi-Agency team conducting a security operation in Kerio Valley, Kenya's Rift Valley, recovered one more AK-47 rifle with an empty magazine.

This comes two days after illegal weapons were recovered from a man's home in Marakwet East in the Rift Valley.

Police recovered 76 rounds of ammunition, seven empty magazines of AK-47, four empty magazines of G-3, one AK- 47 pouch and one side pouch from Abraham Kiptum's home.

Others included two Angola shirts, one jungle green lanyard, banned industrial chemical, Furon 5GR, one APS member of inspectorate pullover, one Green jungle trouser, 43 arrows, seven bows, three quivers and assorted personal items.

The National Police Service has lauded Kerio Valley residents for their continuous cooperation with security officers to restore peace in the area.

"We encourage the area residents to continue providing information that shall lead to more recoveries and apprehension of suspects," said the National Police Service in a statement.
