The appellant, whose identity remains protected under legal protocols, had initially been sentenced to life imprisonment, a ruling later deemed unconstitutional.

The appeal, brought before the High Court, was examined through written submissions, culminating in a final verdict.

While delivering the judgment, Justice Patricia Gichohi underscored the gravity of the prosecution’s case against the appellant, finding the appeal lacking merit.

The judge emphasized the heinous nature of the acts perpetrated against the juvenile, highlighting the need for a sentence that serves as a deterrent to such crimes.

Consequently, the court imposed a 30-year jail term on the appellant.
